Cobalt Sulfate Powder

One of the methods for producing cobalt sulfate is by reacting cobalt metal oxide or cobalt oxide / hydroxide with aqueous sulfuric acid. Heating the solution to drive off the water will give the hydrated forms of cobalt sulfate. If anhydrous cobalt (II) sulfate is desired, the hydrated crystals must be heated to 250°C to drive off the water.

Cobalt sulfate is used in the preparation of pigments, as well as in the manufacture of other cobalt salts. Cobalt pigment is used in porcelains and glass. Cobalt sulfate is used in storage batteries and electroplating baths, sympathetic inks, and as an additive to soils and animal feeds. For these purposes, the cobalt sulfate is produced by treating cobalt oxide with sulfuric acid. Sulfate is processed using basic chemical compounds and sophisticated technology.
